Microsoft Live Labs: Photosynth

Yesterday afternoon I started playing around with Microsofts’ Photosynth beta with their pre created Collections.

First time around I tried to install and run one of the Collections they have available for view, but then it said my notebook’s graphics card is not supported, or rather I’m too LOW specced.

So now got it working on my work notebook.

Photosynth runs snuggly in IE or firefox, and gives you a nice 3d rendering of the place your viewing and what angels etc. photos has been taken with the use of small red cameras at the various spot. The only problem I had with this new technology, is that after about 5 minutes I was bored with the “Application”.Although the technology is breathtaking though.

I must admit it is amazing how they did this all just from a set of pictures, and I assume the software that will come out will automatically generate these 3d worlds from 2d images. I reckon this is only the first step towards something great. Congrats MS for a great initiative !
