Impressively, Twitter is not slowing down, but is only starting on the climb in users.  The article on Techcrunch just illustrates a sudden climb in tweeters worldwide.

I also found that with the increase in tweeps, there also obviously come the bad stuff as well, SPAM, although with Twitter I sometimes wonder if not everything is starting to become SPAM.  SPAM in the sense when you receive so much information on your desktop, that you start considering everything as SPAM even though you chose to recieve the information.

It’s time to start thinking about selling you Wii, because maybe one day soon it may be hard to sell, because of Microsoft’s Project Natal, real time motion capturing device for XBOX 360.  😉  😉

As you know, since our 24 hour LAN some time ago, I’ve found my teenage side again, and started playing games again.

Preparing for the LAN I slowly started building up a relatively good spec machine for playing games, and now at least I can play most new games on my desktop machine.

The latest game I gave a try was Far Cry 2.

Not being used to the new age graphics(last really played 4/5 years ago), only seen Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty 5 graphics at the LAN, which was already “past awesomeness” for me. Playing Far Cry 2 just struck me down.

Ubisoft, the company that developed Far Cry 2 specially developed a new game engine for making environment more lifelike, and making you interact with all the elements in the environment, from real live like fires, that utilizes a very good physics engine, to wind,rain and other natural elements.

This is not your conventional shoot-em-up shooter, but more of a role playing game. When starting the game you are transported inside a landrover somewhere in Africa. Being from South Africa, it really feels like your

Sunday, we attended the Northern Regional Drag Racing Championship – Round 3 at Tarlton International Raceway in Gauteng.

The day was quite exciting and we saw some new records being broken. My father in law also came first the day in his category, the Top Eliminators.

I’ve taken some nice videos from the day, including some workshop videos of weeks before the race, but having some trouble loading up to YouTube, but for the meanwhile here is a photo taken at our house of the rebuilt car of Koos Hailey’s Funny Car now called Waco Flash after the crash in 2006(been rebuilt some time, only posting now).

Could this be, a project that finishes on time in Africa.

Accordingt to this article on MyBroadband, the construction of the 1.28 TB/s fibre optic under sea cable has already been completed and they are busy with end-to-end testing.

Can’t wait for this project to reach the end users and looking forward to how it will affect my ISP’s prices, which at this point is already very low.

According to the SEACOM website the system will be completed in 49 days, but a reliable industry source said that the physical cable system is already completed and that the final preparations are now underway before testing which starts in early June.

This weekend, I invited a couple of friends over to my house for a 24-hour Gaming LAN, as an experiment to see if we are getting old OR not, and if we would be able to make a whole 24 hours of gaming.

We started our en devour at 08h00 Saturday morning and the intention was to play right through to Sunday morning 08h00.

We started the morning off with a nice big breakfast of bacon,eggs,muffins,”mielie pap” which actually kept us going for most of the day.

We started of the day with Battlefield 2, which is just awesome when you have pings of 2ms. When you start shooting your own team for fun you know it’s time to move to a next game.

So the next game was Call of Duty 4 which I’ve never played(what!!). Took us an hour or so to get everybody setup but nice break as well. Inevitably the next game was Call of Duty 5 paying the cool zombie maps.

At around 20h00 Firelite arrived, which insisted we play Left4Dead, which is very cool, and really needs you to play in a team and requires all 4 members to survive!

During the whole day some people joined us and some people left at certain times due to “family” and other responsibilities, but we kept a good average of at least 8 players through the day.

Moving into the cold late night hours the gaming also became a bit slower. People starting dropping out, started leaching from other peoples’ pc’s and just sitting around, looking like zombies(after playing L4D).

Being held at my house, I tried to keep awake as long as possible but unfortunately I dropped out at around 04h00 on Sunday morning, and went to sleep a bit but the last 4 guys still kept going till around 06h00.

Thanks for Werner(Azrael ?), Werner(Pyro), Ryno(Teivel), Zirk(Wolfblade), Anthony(neZron), Melissa(Firelite), Spook, Jacques(Krall), Gregory for joining us, was great fun, and maybe we can do this again in 6 months or so, but next time just for 8 hours or so.

 

O yes, and thanks to Cindy (my wife, Babes,Lover!) Thanks for helping out with the food and putting up with us geeks for the weekend, very much appreciated!
