Well, in today’s fast-paced world there are a lot of addictions, some people get addicted to poker, some to the web, and some to games. I’m someone that is very vulnerable when it gets to new things that have some addictive element.
My latest addiction is Battlefield 2, which can be contributed to a combination of some old school friends and Chris talking about his clans’ knife challenge on his blog.
After all their ramblings I thought about giving this game a try … and since my first try I’m totally addicted – the most awesome game I’ve played in a long time, actually my first game I’m really playing and giving some dedication to for the last 4 years.
I joined the Battlefields of Battlefield 2 on the 30th of March and since then I managed to fork out 26 hours from somewhere to play this game, and so far definitely not bored, and still so much to learn, and can see an improvement in my stats everyday, especially with my accuracy ground level.
On the SGS servers locally in South Africa I found that there are two servers that are mostly active, one mainly with vehicles and the other with NO VEHICLES. I found that pings between 50 and 80 can easily be maintained on my 384kb line I’ve got at home.
I prefer playing the NO VEHICLES servers, as some vehicle maps just gets hectic, especially if you do not have a lot of experience with helicopters etc, but I still manage to get a few good frags.
I’ve found a wealth of good excellent videos explaining some tips ‘n tricks from flying helicopters to basic information about how to destroy an apponents arties and getting rid of those pesky UAVs.
I found this very entertaining video on how to “Get Revenge on Enemy commander” ! (be warned on some bad language)
