Vote South Africa

Why Vote ?  Have a look at WhyVote.co.za and see why you should vote next year.

I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all my fellow South Africans to grasp the oppurtunity to vote for your democracy and your future in next year’s elections.

Here are a few videos from the American elections earlier this year, and more can be found on WhyVote’s website here .

Mudaba

Today, I was on Facebook, and saw an advert for Mudaba.co.za, a micro-blogging platform in South Africa…. so why not – let’s have a look what it’s all about.

Mudaba screenshot

First impressions – a South African attempt on a Twitter style platform.  Mudaba runs on the open source micro blogging script called Laconica.

And then I saw who is a buy man, Wogan May, who is the creator of this website, and he is also taking quite a lot of other projects on as well.  Seems like the activity is still a bit low on this project, but looks like a good initiative for South Africans, don’t know if there are any plans for this to expand further though, and if there is a demand for this in South Africa ?

Bush attacked by shoe

Found this very funny.

Guy loves Twitter

I always follow some news about Entrepreneurs and leading technologists within the IT realm.

Here again is a nice video of an interview held by Robert Scoble with Guy Kawasaki .

And guess what – HE LOVES TWITTER !

I also agree and have also seen that Social networking have advantages as a traffic generator and much more.

The South African Impression

One thing I love, it must surely be my country I live in, South Africa.  Although it has a lot of shortcomings, mostly I’m happy here.  I’ve not been hit by crime, except for car radio stolen out of our car.

I am a keen follower of Scott Hanselman‘s blog called “Scott Hanselman’s Computerzen.com“.

Basically Scott is seen as a MVP for Microsoft, and is visiting South Africa for a couple of weeks, doing a few presentations and speaking a few speaking events.

What is sad is that he has not been welcomed very well in our nice country, and I feel ashamed of the state of some of the things he raises in his blog.  It is nice to see someone blog from an objective point of view, and not like most South Africans which view the country only from their side of the fence.

Here are a few posts that I found quite intriguing :

  1. South African Customs
    1. Scott and his family arrives in South Africa, and his passport is full.
  2. Vigilance in South Africa
    1. This one let’s my blood boil and people like this just needs to freaking leave the country and go to Australia, or rather UK.  I think just go read this one, for a visitor to the country to be attached like this is really not kief.
  3. Culture Shock and Flakes and Crunchies are the best
  4. South African Emergency Taxis
    1. Who wouldn’t write about the South African taxis?

There are alot more posts to read through that are very useful for us South Africans.

Thanks Scott for the seeing our country in all the nice and good ways, a very objective point of view.

The Christmas Wish – Relieving the pressure

I was very tempted to post another post about Friday(or Friday Song), but decided against it this morning.

I rather decided posting another Christmas wish, again very sad one, but puts one really in the giving mood as well, and makes one appreciate ones’ own situation.
